Supper at the kitchen table
There is no restaurant here and we are not going to describe one. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, from October to April, there is one supper at the kitchen table for up to ten people at half past seven: one dish, one pudding, thirty-eight dollars, booked at the desk by three that afternoon. On every other night we will tell you where to eat within four blocks and mean it.
How it works
- One dish, cooked by whoever is on that evening, not chosen from a list
- Thirty-eight dollars a head, added to your room, wine not included and not sold
- Ten seats at one table at 7:30pm, Thursday to Saturday, October to April only
- Bring your own wine if you want it, and there is no corkage
- If nobody books by three in the afternoon it does not run, and we will say so rather than cook for two
The things this inn does not have. No restaurant, no room service, no lift, no car park, no gym and no pool. The page that lists what we do not have exists so that nobody discovers one of them on arrival.
And the other four nights
Ask at the desk. Woodside and the four blocks of Roosevelt Avenue between here and 69th Street have more good food per square foot than almost anywhere else in the city, and the person on the desk eats in them. You will get a specific answer — which place, what to order there, and whether it takes a card — rather than a printed list of everything within a mile.
We do not take a commission from anywhere we send you and there is no arrangement with any of them. That is worth saying because it is not the norm.
Fifteen rooms · breakfast included · no lift
Check availability
Give the form the night you arrive, the morning you leave and how many of you there are. It checks every night of the range rather than the first one, prices each night on its own and shows you the arithmetic before you type a name. If a night in the middle is full it says so and offers you the ranges nearby that do work.
