Not the same thing as being full
Closed to arrivals
There are days when there are rooms free and we are still not checking anybody in. It is a real state in this trade, it is not the same as having no availability, and telling you the wrong one of the two wastes your time.
What it means
You may stay THROUGH one of these days. You may not ARRIVE on one. If your booking runs from the twenty-third to the twenty-seventh and the twenty-fifth is closed to arrivals, nothing about your stay changes: breakfast runs, somebody is here, your room is your room. What we will not do is take a new guest in on that day.
Why it is worth its own page
Because almost every booking system in this trade collapses it into "no availability", and those two sentences send a guest in different directions. Told there is nothing available, you assume the inn is full, you come back tomorrow and ask for the same night, and you get the same answer. Told we are closed to arrivals on that day, you arrive a day earlier or a day later and the room is there.
It is a small thing and it is the kind of small thing that decides whether a booking page is honest.
Every one of them, with the reason
- 25 November 2026 to 26 November 2026. Two people are on for the whole of that week and neither of them is on the desk. Guests already in the building carry on as normal; we simply do not take new arrivals on those two days.
- 24 December 2026 to 25 December 2026. We do not check anyone in on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. If you are already staying, breakfast runs as usual and somebody is here.
That is the list. It is short on purpose, it is published a year ahead, and if it changes this page changes with it — the booking engine and this page read the same table.
The third state
There is one more answer the booking page can give and it is neither of these: the room is free and the date needs more nights than you asked for. That has its own page too.
Closed to arrivals is not the same as full. A handful of days a year we do not check anybody in, though guests already staying are unaffected. Those days are listed with their reasons rather than shown to you as “no availability”.
Fifteen rooms · breakfast included · no lift
Check availability
Give the form the night you arrive, the morning you leave and how many of you there are. It checks every night of the range rather than the first one, prices each night on its own and shows you the arithmetic before you type a name. If a night in the middle is full it says so and offers you the ranges nearby that do work.
